Moments of Cuteness

I had to share this. Camryn and Connor were watching TV (probably "Enchanted" since we now watch it daily) and I guess since Camryn didn't have a blanket handy to occupy her hand she was rubbing Connor's ear as she sucked her thumb. I'm so happy to capture these touching moments on camera since they are so few and far between. I'm sure it was followed by her pushing him off the chair or something of that nature.

"Let Me Help You With That Cake"

Here we are at yet another birthday party at cake time. Aidan braved it to join the Spriggs' kids (we've all seen on this blog how cake time goes).



Apparently Camryn thought that Aidan needed some assistance. More likely, though, is that she thought he was too young to notice her taking his cake from him.

He outsmarted her, though. In an effort to make sure he got his full share of cake he shoved a bunch in before Camryn could get to it.

There's nothing like sitting back with a cool beverage at a party after cake. Life is good.

Blondes to the Left of Me, Tipsy to My Right

Jenny had a get-together last weekend and it turned into a reunion of sorts. Ms. Tipsy Tina Carranza made a stop from all of her travels to come by as did Ms. Amy "Lundy" Lund. We all had a great time and it was a lot of fun hanging out. My favorite part was watching everyone else chase around their kids while I sat back and watched since mine were with Daddy at the Villafana's. It was a wonderful day.

The After Party

The Zoo after party was at the Villafana's. Since it was 103 degrees at 5pm when we got to the house, the kids opted for some pool time. This was Connor's first experience with a pool. He enjoyed it a lot, though he kept wanting to walk around and fell EVERY time and ended up with a mouthful of water and some tears. We tried to get him to sit down and play with the toys, but he insisted on standing and falling. As you can see from the picture, Camryn had an excellent time sliding down the slide. She even went head first. I'm not sure she was ready for the faceplant into the water, but she still enjoyed it.


While they were drying off the girls decided to do some hugging. Mind you, they had no clothes on. I had to crop out a nipple slip from my daughter to make this picture internet friendly.

Best Slide Ever

We joined the Villafana family for some fun at the Santa Barbara Zoo on Saturday. It was their way of getting out of the heat in the Valley, and we just tagged along. Kayla and Camryn had lots of fun together as usual. They attempted to feed a giraffe, but the only one who wasn't scared was Jen. She's so brave. Camryn threw a piece of food at it instead of letting it eat from her hand. I'm sure the giraffe appreciated that. I think the most fun they had was on a hill in the children's play area that was made of astroturf that you can slide down. They went up and down that thing at least a hundred times and since one was wearing a dress and the other had a skirt on, there were a few astroturf burns. They were having too much fun to complain, though.

When Mommy's Not Watching...

Connor at "school"

Here are some pics from Connor at "school" (as Camryn calls it). It's really our Mommy and Me class. He really loves it and doesn't seem to care that I'm around. During "circle time" he walks around the circle until he finds a nice lap to sit in, and very often it's not mine. He's very social and quite popular with the moms. He also loves Teacher Nancy and often picks her over me, also.

He's so used to a certain girl taking all of his stuff it doesn't phase him that this one is snagging some goldfish from his stash. (Although he does have kind of a sad look on his face in his silent plea for her to stop)

Hella Cool Trip

We went up north again to see my cousins who were visiting from New Zealand with their 1 year old baby, Wyatt, whom we'd never met. We spent lots of time at Great-Grandma Betty's house and ate a whole lot of food. Camryn re-discovered her obsession with popsicles and got severe rash on most of her body from bug bites which almost resulted in our first trip to an emergency room (we didn't know it was bug bites for a while). I remembered how much I hate sleeping in the same room with Connor who seems to never stop moving and making noise.

I thought I'd join Camryn for the birthday cake picture since we were both enjoying it so much.

Speaking of cake, according to Grandma Patti Connor said what sounded like the word "cake" twice while pointing at the birthday cake. I'm not sure if I buy it since I didn't hear it either time, but if it were true that would be his first word. Appropriate.

This picture is almost all of the grandkids and great-grandkids in the family. Only 2 grandkids and 1 great-grandkid were missing.

OK, so Camryn may have gotten a strike here, but look at that form! She showed that tee who's boss. (And, yes, for some reason she bats left handed. We have no clue why.)

Quack!

Before Camryn's sports class we headed over to the lagoon to feed the ducks. Connor seemed more interested in walking into the water to feed them, or just eating the bread himself. Why waste good bread, right? Someone should feed that kid, he's wasting away.

More Birthday Fun

Shockingly, we had another birthday party this weekend. Lots of fun, and of course, Camryn managed to be the last kid standing at the cake table and got her face and arms painted. If you need evidence of this you can look at the pictures, or come over our house and look at the pink, blue and green stains on our couch.

No outing would be complete without a Camryn "hug". (It looks so sweet and innocent)

Notice the lack of kids around at the cake table. Everyone else had come and gone, but not Camryn. She savored every last bite. She has a new trick, too. She conveniently dropped her first piece (after some had been eaten), cried, and then...Presto! a new piece arrived right in front of her. I taught her everything she knows.
